Välkommen!
I am a 23 year-old American citizen living in Stockholm, Sweden. After being raised in rural southwest Kansas, I defected and moved south of the border to to attend the University of Oklahoma. I graduated in December 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies (Special Distinction). While at OU, I worked for two years at the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Oklahoma City, where I spent many fun hours helping to prosecute violators of federal law.
After a brief post-graduation stint as a resident “computer genius” for a major American insurance company, I moved to Sweden in August 2007. I am currently a student at the University of Stockholm, where I am pursuing a Master of Science in Human Geography. My expected thesis topic will be a study of international Swedish marriage and cohabitation patterns since the country joined the EU in 1995.
I love being in Sweden, but I also love being an American. My goal with this blog is to share the “Swedish experience” from my perspective.
The name of my blog, Old Glory, refers to a common nickname for the U.S. flag. I often wear a lapel pin that combines Old Glory with the beautiful blue and yellow Swedish flag.

Hi! I happen to find your blog while I googled “Stockholm Uni”. I was surpried to find out that you are in the program which I was accepted for fall 2008. I have some questions about the program that I would like to ask you. I hadn’t been informed any details and the program coordinator is not very helpful so far. Do you mind if I keep in touch with you by e-mails?
